Pakistan PM hails ties with Lebanon

ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN, JULY 31, SPA -- Pakistan and Lebanon enjoy close friendly relations which need to be further strengthened, according to Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz. He was talking to Ameen Ullah Khan Raesani, the new Ambassador of Lebanon who met him in Islamabad. Aziz said Pakistan and Lebanon have shared interest for peace, harmony, growth and development in their respective countries. He said Pakistan fully supports the peace process in Lebanon as it would lead to peace and harmony in the region. The Prime Minister said Pakistan fully supports the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Lebanon and is keen to see long lasting peace there. He said that the people of the two countries have stood by each other in all difficult times. Aziz said resolution of festering disputes in Middle East is vital for regional and global peace and stability. Pakistan feels that we need to create unanimity of views among the Muslim countries for early settlement of disputes, he added. Aziz handed over a special message for the Lebanese Prime Minister, Fouad Siniora and assured that the two countries will keep on working for peace and stability in the region.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/471693
