Pakistan PM hails multi-faceted ties with Britain

ISLAMABAD, SEPT 8, SPA – Britain and Pakistan have broad based historical ties, which will be further strengthened with frequent interaction between leaders of the two countries, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said. Talking to Dr. Kim Howells, British Minister of State Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Aziz said Pakistan abhors terrorism and is, along with international community, fighting against it, according to an official statement. Talking of Afghanistan, the Prime Minister said Pakistan wants peace and stability in Afghanistan and has been extending moral, diplomatic and economic support for the reconstruction process of Afghanistan. Aziz said Pakistan is concerned over situation in Lebanon. The military action against Lebanon has further complicated the Middle East situation. Pakistan hopes the peace process to address the Palestine issue will be emphasized to ensure peace and progress in the region. On his part, Dr. Kim Howells highlighted the importance of UK-Pakistan relations, which are multi-faceted including the areas of trade, investment, tourism as well as diplomatic defense and security.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/387867
