Cairo, July 31, SPA -- Prince Saud Al-Faisal, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs participated today in a consultative meeting held at Sharm el-sheikh city, which was hosted by Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Aboul Gheit. In addition to Prince Saud Al-Faisal of Saudi Arabia, it was also attended by his counterparts from the rest of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and Jordan. It was convened prior to a meeting later today with U.S Secretary of States Condoleezza Rice. Ala Alhadidi, the spokesman of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign affairs said in a press statement today that the upcoming meeting with Rice will focus on a number of important files including the peace process in Iraq, the security of the Arabian Gulf and the issues as regards the spread of nuclear threat and terrorism. The participants will be briefed on the Egyptian perspective on all issues presented in the agenda including the U.S president's call for international conference on Palestine in addition to the mission of Tony Blair -- the Quartet's special envoy in the Middle East, he added. "There will be a declaration of the upcoming meeting of the Foreign Ministers of 8 Arab countries with Rice which Egypt has prepared after consultations with all sides.
