Riyadh The symposium underlined the importance of activating Arab-Chinese cultural cooperation. It supported the idea of establishing a specialized channel by China in Arabic language as well as encouraging the Arab side to establish a similar channel and opening cultural centers in the Arab countries as well as Arab cultural centers in china. The Symposium called for enhancing cooperation between the Arab and Chinese writers federations for exchange of expertise and carrying out joint cultural programs, notably in the field of translation of the books which are concerned with civilization, history, culture and heritage. The symposium also underlined the importance of encouraging tourism so as to make the Arab countries a resort for the Chinese. It also called for academic cooperation and cultural dialogue. The symposium called for organizing an annual Arab-Chinese festival and other cultural activities in some Arab and Chinese cities. It also called for preparation of political, economic and cultural programs. The participants of the Symposium expressed appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz for hosting the symposium and hailed the efforts exerted by the ministry of culture and information as well as the Arab league's general secretariat , the council of the Arab ambassadors in Beijing to ensure the success of the symposium. The third session of the symposium will be held in 2009. This should be stipulated in the executive program of the symposium for the period from 2008 to 2010, which will be approved by the symposium's ministerial meeting, due to be held in Manama next May.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/505744
