AMMAN, Jordan, April 19, SPA -- Israeli Knesset speaker Dalia Yitzik arrived in Jordan Thursday, for talks on ways to revive Israeli-Palestinian peacemaking. Yitzik's visit comes hours after the Arab League pickedJordan and Egypt _ the only two Arab countries to havesigned peace treaties with Israel _ to take the lead inapproaching the Jewish state to promote a Saudi-draftedpeace plan to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Associated Press reported. The plan is expected to dominate the talks betweenJordan's King Abdullah II and Yitzik, who also is Israel'sacting president. Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni was in Jordan Sunday, when she held talks with her Jordanian counterpart, Abdul-Illah al-Khatib, on the Middle East conflict. The Saudi plan _ introduced in 2002 and revived during and Arab summit held in Riyadh last month _ envisages full Arab recognition of Israel in return for an Israeli withdrawal from territories captured in the 1967 Middle East War. It also calls for Palestinian statehood.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/442443
