Prince Saud pointed out that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had followed up the intensive efforts conducted by the GCC-EU negotiators in the past to reach the Free-duty zone agreement. "We had hoped that this could lead to signing the agreement on the fringe of this meeting but time is short to accomplish such an agreement at this meeting." "This agreement is important to enhance the economic relations between us. I request to all negotiators and the concerned authorities to expedite the works and intensify the efforts to finalize the requirement of the agreement as soon as possible, " Prince Saud said. He clarified that the Arab-Israeli conflict and the disruption of the peace process caused a lot of tensions in the region as a whole. Prince Saud reiterated the full commitment of the Arabs to have a comprehensive and just peace on the basis of Arab Peace initiative. "It is an historic opportunity that we hope not to miss." Highlighting the deteriorating situation in Iraq, Prince Saud noted the suffering and misery of the innocent people, the collapse of security situations, the uprising of sectarian conflicts and terrorist operations in Iraq. "All these call for joint responsibility on our shoulders, but the major responsibilities are on the shoulders of the Iraqi citizens and government which we hope could achieve tangible and fast reconciliation. The reconciliation however, requires legislative and constitutional amendments beside the dissolution of militia and the start of rebuilding national constitution on professional and patriotic bases." Prince Saud said "the peaceful means are still not in its final shape to resolve Iran's nuclear file, and that these should be built on mutual trust, frankness and credibility not on suspicions and fears." --SPA www.spa.gov.sa/447867
