Bomb kills 24 in Baghdad marketplace

BAGHDAD, Iraq (SPA) -- At least 24 Iraqis were killed and 45 more were wounded when a bomb ripped through Shurja, the capital's largest market, on Wednesday morning, a Baghdad emergency police official said. An hour later, a car bomb exploded near a fuel station in central Baghdad, killing two and wounding 15 others, including five police officers, Baghdad emergency officials said. A second bomb in the same area was detonated minutes later as rescue team arrived to assist the wounded. The attacks took place near Al-Andalus Square. Earlier Wednesday at least 12 people were killed and 38 wounded when a bomb exploded outside an Iraqi army recruitment center in Hilla, police was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. According to authorities, the bomb was strapped to a motorcycle left outside the facility. Hilla is located about 60 miles (100 km) south of Baghdad.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/385972
