Washington, Feb 4, SPA -- The U.S. media has so far largely decided against republishing controversial cartoons that have angered Muslims across the world. Editors at several news organizations contacted by Agence France-Presse told the wire service they would report on the controversy but preferred not to reprint or air the images out of respect for their readers or viewers. "If I were faced with something that I know is … offensive to many of our readers, I would think twice about whether the benefit of publication outweighed the offense it might give," said Fred Hiatt, a Washington Post editorial page editor. Keith Richburg, the Washington Post's foreign editor, said he had decided against publishing the cartoons because they represent "a clear example" of something readers would find offensive. "We don't see any particular reason to do it just for shock value," he said.--MORE 13 27 Local Time 10 27 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/323530
