Baghdad, March 2, SPA -- A top religious official saidThursday that 45 Sunni preachers and mosque employees havebeen killed since the Feb. 22 bombing of a shrine inSamarra ignited a wave of reprisal attacks. Sheik Ahmed Abdul Ghafour al-Samaraie, head of thegovernment's Sunni Endowment, told reporters that 37 Sunnimosques were set on fire during the attacks. He saidanother 86 mosques were attacked by grenades, gunfire orrockets and that six remain occupied by extremists.
