Islamabad, Feb 19, SPA -- Pakistan wants to introduce a newresolution in the United Nations to help guide the governments onthe issue of blasphemy, Pakistan's permanent representative at UNMasood Khan has said. In an interview with BBC, he said, "We are thinking to introduce a newresolution or form a new convention so that it may guide all thegovernments regarding the issue of blasphemy." "Pakistan is also trying for the implementation of existingconventions", Masood Khan said. "Pakistan has comprehensive and clear policy on the issue ofblasphemy. We want to take up the issue in the European Parliament and in allthe European capitals", he said. Masood Khan said an emergency meeting of a panel of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Conference) was convened in Geneva and its second session would be held on February 20. He said, "We are in contact with UN High Commissioner for HumanRights for further steps against blasphemy." To a question he said, "Pakistan wants revision of resolutions,conventions regarding racism and covenant of civil and politicalrights." To another question, he said OIC secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu is in touch with the UN Secretary General and European Foreign Policy Chief."All the Muslim countries are united on the issue of blasphemy," headded.--SPA 11 49 Local Time 08 49 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/332167
