Bush will visit Latvia, the Netherlands, Russia and Georgia in May to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of World War Two and back democratic changes in former Soviet republics. He also said he would back Ukraine's push to join the World Trade Organization and urge the U.S. Congress to lift restrictions on trade with the country. Yushchenko told Bush that Ukraine hoped to join the WTO by the end of 2005. White House spokesman Scott McClellan said the subject did not come up in Bush's meeting with Yushchenko. "This occurred before he (Yushchenko) was in the presidency. And they are acting in a responsible manner to address those issues," McClellan said.
