Moscow, Sept 3, SPA -- Commados stormed into a school where hundreds of hostages were being held Friday and established control of most or allof the building, Russian newsagencies reported. The storming followed a series of heavy explosions after which dozens of hostages, including naked children, fled the building. There was no immediate word on casualties in the chaoticdevelopments, which came on the third day of the crisis. After the explosions, heavy gunfire broke out from bothsides and helicopters circled the area. Several hundred hostages apparently remained in thebuilding as the firing raged. Several of the hostage-takerswere seen running from the school, firing indiscriminatelyin desperation. There was no immediate word on casualties in the chaoticdevelopments, which came on the third day of the crisis.Women escaping the building were seen fainting and others,some covered in blood, were carried away on stretchers. Commandos then stormed in and the firing subsided afterabout 45 minutes, possibly indicating the crisis had cometo a violent end. Unconfirmed television reports said some of the raidershad escaped, possibly taking children with them.
