Pakistan hosts the fifth General Assembly of the Association of Asian Parliamentaria

Islamabad, Nov 17, SPA -- Pakistan hosts the fifth General Assembly of the Association of Asian Parliamentarians for Peace (AAPP) in Islamabad from November 29 to December 3, officials said.A total of 54 countries have been invited to the conference. Of them, twenty-six have confirmed their participation, four have declined while 14 others are yet to respond.The declining states include Jordan, Fiji, Kazakhstan and Samoa, officials said adding that only Jordan is an AAPP-member country.The conference is being organized to further promote the message of peace in the Asian region under President General Pervez Musharraf's vision.President General Pervez Musharraf is scheduled to address the opening session of the assembly on November 30 after an inaugural address by AAPP President Jose de Venecia, who is also Speaker of the Philippines National Assembly.Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will address the conference's concluding session on December 2.
