Colombo, Sept 18, SPA -- Suspected Tamil Tiger rebelsfatally shot a rival Tamil politician in northwestern SriLanka on Saturday as he cycled with his 8-year-olddaughter, the Associated Press quoted officials as saying. Thambithurai Sivakumar, a leader of Eelam People'sDemocratic Party, was killed in Puttalam, a town 120kilometers (75 miles) north of the capital Colombo, saidmilitary spokesman Col. Sumedha Perera. Perera blamed Tamil Tiger rebels for the killing, althoughno group immediately claimed responsibility.
