Kabul, Sha'ban 17, 1433, Jul 7, 2012, SPA - Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai on Saturday left for the Tokyo Conference on civilian aid for Afghanistan, his office said. "President Karzai will meet Japan's Emperor, the prime minister and foreign minister as well as the United Nations Secretary General, German and French foreign ministers at the sideline of the conference," the statement was quoted as saying by DPA. Leaders and representatives of 70 countries and international organizations are expected to attend the one-day conference, scheduled for Sunday, to discuss civilian aid to Afghanistan after the planned end of military operations in 2014. Karzai left after holding a joint press conference with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who said Afghanistan is a "major non-NATO ally of the US." --SPA 12:54 LOCAL TIME 09:54 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1013742
