As for the situation in Syria, Ambassador Al-Mua’llemi said that despite the issuance of Security Council resolutions No. 2042 and No. 2043 on deployment of a mission of international observers to monitor developments in the implementation of the initiative of United Nations and Arab League Joint Envoy for Syria Kofi Annan, and despite the emphasis on full support for Annan's efforts, the Syrian regime is still engaging in violence against its people, using heavy machineries in bombing residential neighborhoods, villages, and complexes of citizens, and going on in their detentions rather than releasing detainees according to its commitments, indicating that the Syrian regime is not fulfilling its commitments made to Kofi Annan.
