Riyadh, November 10, 2022, SPA -- President and Chief Executive Officer of Aramco Eng. Amin Al-Nasser has participated in the Global Cybersecurity Forum in Riyadh, which is organized by National Cybersecurity Authority under the theme: "Rethinking the Global Cyber Order." The Aramco president's participation underscores the company's commitment to the importance of teamwork and gives adequate priority to cybersecurity in the face of cyber-attacks. Addressing the conference, Al-Nasser noted that the global energy sector has long been the target of cyber-attacks, the risk of which has recently been exacerbated by technological developments and developments in methods of criminal attacks, and whether they arise from gangs seeking payments, or from terrorist groups seeking to destroy critical energy infrastructure, the risk is clear, present and persistent. He added that the transformation of the global energy sector leads to digitization and a growing convergence and overlap between information technologies and plant operating techniques, which increases the potential risk of cyber-attacks disrupting manufacturing work, and what must be borne in mind is that the energy sector is a complex system. He noted that it is necessary to extend the cybersecurity force beyond large energy companies to all service providers throughout supply chains, making Saudi Aramco demand strong cybersecurity standards from all its partners, suppliers and service providers because fighting cyber-attacks is not something companies can do on their own, which makes us all need to increase cooperation urgently and cannot be postponed so that there is no weak link in the supply and service chain. Saudi Aramco is one of the founding partners of the World Economic Forum's Cybersecurity Center to share expertise and best practices and recently entered in an outstanding cooperation partnership with the National Cybersecurity Authority, where Aramco joined as a founding member of the Cybersecurity Excellence Center for Operational Technologies out of its belief in flexible electronic power and rapid recovery capacity will remain a very high priority in Saudi Aramco, adding that the company also rate cybersecurity excellence on an equal footing with safety, operational excellence and environmental excellence. --SPA 09:58 LOCAL TIME 06:58 GMT 0005 www.spa.gov.sa/w1811465
