Saudi Arabia Takes Part in 215th Session of UNESCO Executive Council

Paris, Oct 15, 2022, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has participated in the activities of the 215th session of the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which started its opening sessions yesterday at UNESCO headquarters in Paris and will last until October 19. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s speech at the opening session focused on its endeavor to enhance its role in the Organization to achieve the goals of sustainable development and its ambitious vision 2030. The speech affirmed its support for all efforts aimed at developing mechanisms for knowledge exchange and all efforts aimed at setting national policies and strategic plans, encouraging investment and supporting capabilities and skills in the fields of culture, in addition to highlighting the climate crisis that the Kingdom works to address it through its Middle East Green Initiative, which aims to enhance cooperation among the countries of the region and supports Saudi Arabia's ambition to become a leader in the field of sustainability at the global level. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia' participation in the session was represented by Princess Haifa bint Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf Al Meqrin, the Kingdom's permanent representative to UNESCO and the Chairwoman of the Organization's Programs and External Relations Committee, with the participation of the Secretary-General of the Saudi National Committee for Education, Culture and Science, Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Blaihed and a group of experts from the Ministries of Culture and Education as well as from the Human Rights Commission.
