GCC Food Safety Committee Holds its Sixth Meeting

Riyadh, June 23, 2022, SPA -- The Food Safety Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held its sixth meeting at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Riyadh today, chaired by the CEO of the General Authority for Food and Drug in the Kingdom, Dr. Hisham bin Saad Al-Jadhey, and attended by UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment Meriam Al-Muhairi, Bahraini Minister of Health Dr. Jalila Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan, Omani Minister of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al-Habsi, Qatari Assistant Minister for Health Affairs Dr. Saleh bin Ali Al-Marri, and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director-General of the Food and Nutrition Authority in Kuwait Dr. Reem Ghazi Al-Fulaij, and the with the participation of the GCC Secretary-General, Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf. During the meeting, several key topics related to cooperation in food safety among the GCC countries were discussed and appropriate decisions were taken, including updating the GCC Guide for Control on Imported Food, the GCC Unified Food Law, and the Guide to Issuing Certificates of Food Products Trade among the GCC States, and the GCC countries' celebration of the World Food Safety Day, as well as the topic of dealing with newly created foods and other important related topics. --SPA 21:40 LOCAL TIME 18:40 GMT 0028 www.spa.gov.sa/w1751726
