Saudi Arabia Affirms Interest in Strengthening International Cooperation in Combating Corruption

Sharm El Sheikh, December 15, 2021, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia affirmed that combating corruption requires everyone’s cooperation at all levels to combat this scourge in all its forms and manifestations. This came in the Kingdom's speech delivered by the President of the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority Mazen bin Ibrahim Al-Kahmous, at the ninth session of the Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, held in Sharm El-Sheikh from 13-17 December. Al-Kahmous clarified that the Kingdom's government pays great importance to the international cooperation in combating corruption, and has made and is still making every effort to eradicate this destructive scourge. He indicated that the Kingdom launched the "Riyadh Initiative" aimed at establishing a global operation network of anti-corruption law enforcement authorities, called the GlobE Network, noting that the initiative was welcomed by all countries, within the political declaration issued by the special session of the United Nations General Assembly, as well as within the statement of leaders the countries of the Group of Twenty at the Rome Summit 2021, which reflects the interest of countries in strengthening international cooperation among anti-corruption authorities. --SPA 01:11 LOCAL TIME 22:11 GMT 0006 www.spa.gov.sa/w1665468
