Cairo, December 27, 2021, SPA -- The Arab Parliament Speaker, Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Asumi stressed the Parliament’s interest in meeting the objectives of the Arab Charter on Human Rights, calling for strengthening constructive cooperation between the Parliament’s Arab Observatory for Human Rights and the Charter Committee of the Arab League. In a speech delivered at the 18th session of the Human Rights Committee, the Charter Committee, held today at the Arab League to discuss the report submitted by Kuwait, Al-Asumi said that “the Arab Parliament has always underlined the importance of Arab countries fulfilling their obligations to submit their periodic reports to the Charter Committee on time, and follow up on the implementation of the recommendations issued by the esteemed committee in this regard, by taking the necessary legislative and executive measures”. Appreciating the tireless efforts and the pioneering role of Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, and Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Crown Prince, to promote, respect, and protect human rights in Kuwait, Al-Asumi said their efforts contributed to the development of an integrated Kuwaiti system in this field, adding that Kuwait represents an Arab role model to be followed at the legislative, institutional and political levels in human rights.
