Geneva, Mar. 04, 2022, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation, headed by Governor of Communications and Information Technology Commission Dr. Mohammad bin Saud Al-Tamimi, is taking part in the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly for the year 2022, being held from 1 to 9 March 2022 in Geneva. During a speech before the meeting, Al-Tamimi said that the Kingdom has set a road map for leadership in the digital field, citing that, since the launch of Vision 2030 five years ago, it has made qualitative leaps in the communications and information technology sector. The government has invested more than $15 billion in the sector, resulting in many achievements, he added, confirming the Kingdom's keenness to support achieving the objectives of the international standardization sector to enhance mechanisms for developing global standards to keep pace with the accelerating digital developments, he said. Since it became member of the International Telecommunication Union in 1949 and the affiliating council in 1965, Saudi Arabia has harnessed its human potential and expertise to support its activities and participate in its various forums, he added, stressing that the Kingdom is determined to continue its efforts to support the Union and keep pace with developments and changes. It is noteworthy that the regular meeting of the Assembly is held every four years to determine the general direction of the telecommunication standardization sector, build its general policies, form study committees and approve its work program for the next four years.
