ALECSO Director General Highlights Importance of Saudi Arabia’s Role in Improving Performance of the Organization

Tunis, December 1, 2021, SPA -- Director General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar stressed the important role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, since assuming the presidency of the organization’s Executive Council, in distinguished contribution to improving the ALECSO performance in cooperation with efforts of the Arab countries at all levels. Speaking to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), on the sidelines of the 12th Session of Arab Ministers of Education, he said: “A meeting was held with the participation of 50 Saudi influencers and 70 institutions that, through ALECSO, showcased their efforts in the fields of culture, education and scientific research, in addition to several joint projects that will be organized with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, mainly in the cultural field, and will focus on other diversified fields, such as Arabic calligraphy, inscriptions and incense, in cooperation with several Arab countries. He also referred to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic repercussions that affected the organization’s activities and its role in overcoming this crisis, saying: “COVID-19 pandemic has caused a big loss for several scheduled activities of the organization, yet having modern technologies and digital communications means, some of these ramifications have been overcome, especially in some Arab countries that realized major achievements in online education, such as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Egypt. He also noted that ALECSO has contributed to bringing together the experiences of several Arab countries in the educational field in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and helped develop digital platforms for other countries, where the organization distributed 1,000 devices to Comoros, Mauritania and Lebanon, and will distribute another batch for each of Djibouti, Palestine and Tunisia, noting that ALECSO understands the importance of these mechanisms and ways to deal with them to face this extraordinary emergency situation. --SPA 17:31 LOCAL TIME 14:31 GMT 0020 www.spa.gov.sa/w1658681
