Riyadh, July 08, 2021, SPA -- Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Riyadh newspaper reported in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing rapid growth in the e-commerce sector with increasing dependence on it by consumers and the business sector, the paper said. Many shops and restaurants have turned to selling via electronic and digital platforms, as some statistics estimate that the sector's growth rate exceeds 20% annually, the paper added. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is seen as one of the largest e-commerce markets in the Middle East and North Africa, the paper further added. Delivery applications in general are the most prominent activities on which e-commerce depends and statistics indicate that the total delivery requests during the first quarter of this year 2021 reached more than 28 million requests and these applications witnessed a demand from Saudis working through, as they were estimated around 700,000 people, the paper concluded. Al-Bilad newspaper reported in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been the most supportive country for the United Nations (UN) and its various agencies since it has signed its charter in 1945. In this regard, Saudi Arabia has played pivotal role in all global issues to consolidate the principles of international peace and security, in addition to adopting Good Neighbor policy, the paper said. Saudi Arabia always rejects interference in the internal affairs of countries, emphasizing coexistence between peoples and civilizations, in addition to strengthening friendly relations, along with helping developing countries and the needy people everywhere, the paper added. Saud Arabia has remained a major contributor to the United Nations and its agencies in the field of the development assistance, reducing the effects of natural disasters and combating poverty and disease through its donation to multiple United Nations funds, including the World Food Programme (WFP) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the paper concluded. Al Eqtisadiah Newspaper reported in its editorial that the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) in Saudi Arabia has come in line with the economic development strategy, as it aims to develop the transport sector and upgrade all its absorptive capacities and support sustainable development. The Saudi economy is one of the 20 largest economies in the world and the largest in the Middle East, as the goals of the vision aim at raising the non-oil exports from 16 to 50 percent of non-oil GDP, and raising the contribution of the private sector from 40 to 65 percent of GDP, the paper added.
