Riyadh, September 10, 2021, SPA -- The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority has managed to thwart four attempts to smuggle 1,121,722 Captagon pills, found hidden in consignments received to the Kingdom via different land, air, and sea customs border crossings. The authority explained that the first smuggling attempt was at the customs of King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, where 112,810 Captagon pills were found hidden in a shipment consisting of household kneaders received to the Kingdom through the airport, where the seizures were hidden under the container in which the dough was placed. Another attempt to smuggle 80,000 Captagon pills was foiled after finding them hidden in a postal parcel containing water purification filters. The authority added that Duba Port customs thwarted an attempt to smuggle 917,636 Captagon pills, while King Fahd Causeway Customs thwarted another attempt to smuggle 11,276 pills, which were hidden in one of the vehicles coming to the Kingdom through the port. The Authority stressed its determination to tighten customs control over the Kingdom’s imports and is steadfastly standing against any attempts by smugglers, calling on citizens and residents to contribute to the fight against smuggling to protect society and the economy. --SPA 16:07 LOCAL TIME 13:07 GMT 0008 www.spa.gov.sa/w1616160
