Riyadh, February 25, 2022, SPA -- The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority in Duba Port has foiled 4 attempts to smuggle 1,109,393 Captagon pills found hidden in shipments arriving in the Kingdom through the port. The authority explained that the seizure took place when several trucks arriving in the Kingdom were subjected to customs procedures and were inspected through security techniques and police dogs, discovering a large quantity of pills hidden in different ways. The authority said in the first attempt, 95,782 pills were discovered in different parts of a truck while in the second attempt, 382,218 pills were found on the floor of a truck, adding that the authorities thwarted the third attempt to smuggle 51,761 pills, which were hidden in the "wooden tables", and in the fourth foiled attempt, 579,632 Captagon were found hidden in the truck’s spare tires. Upon completion of the seizure, the Authority said that it coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to ensure the arrest of the recipients of the vehicles in the Kingdom, which resulted in the arrest of four people, stressing that it is continuing to tighten control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports and take action to counter smuggling attempts, to achieve its strategy and contribute to the security and protection of the society.
