Riyadh, June 08, 2021, SPA -- Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Riyadh newspaper reported in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia believes that the prevalence of corruption around the world is a major factor for hampering development programs and the aspirations of leaders to build strong countries. Therefore and based on this belief, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, started at an early age the war against corruption. Additionally, whoever is involved in corruption cases, regardless of his social status, will face the punishment. Saudi Arabia has also believed that its experience in fighting corruption deserves to be shared with all countries, realizing that fighting corruption is a thing that all must participate in with various mechanisms and unremitting efforts, in order to create a strong global economy. Therefore, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia finances Riyadh Initiative (GlobE Network) aimed to establish a global network of anti-corruption law enforcement authorities, develop a rapid and effective tool to combat cross-border corruption crimes and enhance cooperation among anti-corruption authorities, whereas this initiative was initiated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during its presidency of the G20 in 2020. The newspaper further added that the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres expressed thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for funding the Riyadh Initiative to create the GlobE Network. He also predicted that the network will has an impact on the existing situation in the field of fighting corruption, in a way that achieves the sustainable development goals, promotes peace, and protects human rights. All these things affirm the feasibility of the initiatives that Saudi Arabia presents to the countries of the world. The inauguration of the network is an affirmation of the world's confidence in the Saudi capabilities and expertise in this field. Moreover, Saudi Arabia’s global initiatives are connected with the aspirations of Saudi Vision 2030, the newspaper concluded. In another context, Al-Yaum newspaper said in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is exerting all efforts to achieve a peaceful and political solution in Yemen that guarantees its security, stability and safety, in addition to preserving the rights of Yemenis. The newspaper pointed to the US embassy in Yemen condemnation of the blazing war that Houthi militias perpetrated against civilians in Marib Governorate, Yemen. Yemen News Agency (SABA) also reported that Cathy Westley, charge d’affaires at the US embassy took to Twitter to say: We are horrified by reports the Houthis used a ballistic missile to destroy a gas station in marib, killing and wounding civilians”. “The Houthis reportedly then used a drone to attack an ambulance crew coming to aid the injured. This inhuman violence must end”. Meanwhile, the British Ambassador to Yemen Michael Aron, in a tweet on his official Twitter account, described the incident as shocking, saying: “Shocking reports of explosions at a petrol station in Marib leaving dozens of civilians killed & injured.” He  added:” The Houthis must stop their Marib offensive and engage seriously with the UN”.
