Cairo, January 15, 2020, SPA -- The President of Arab Parliament Dr. Meshaal Al-Salami has warned of the danger of aggressive interventions and plans by regional countries aimed at reviving their colonial ambitions by forming militias and proxies inside Arab societies and sending military forces that violate the sovereignty of Arab countries. This came in his speech during the fourth session of the second legislative term of the Arab Parliament, which was kicked off in Cairo today in the presence of Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs. Dr. Al-Salami said that rapid developments in the Arab world have reached a high degree of danger, in light of conflicts and external interference being witnessed by some Arab countries and the direct threat they pose to Arab national security. Dr. Al-Salami said that despite all the challenges and critical circumstances that our Arab nation is going through, the Palestinian case remains the first and central issue for the Arab world, stressing that the Arab Parliament continues to support the Palestinian people in defending their lands and their legitimate rights until the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as its capital. He affirmed Parliament's solidarity with the Libyan people, welcoming the announcement of the ceasefire, calling on all parties to abide by it, as it is an important step for finding a final and comprehensive political solution to the crisis. Dr. Al-Salami stressed Arab parliament’s rejection of the decision issued by the Turkish parliament regarding sending military forces to Libya, which is in violation of the United Nations Security Council resolutions that prohibits the supply of weapons to Libya, calling on the international community to take an immediate and urgent position to prevent the transfer of foreign fighters to Libya. He also said that we are following with great concern the developments in Iraq, stressing that the security and stability of Iraq is an integral part of the security and stability of the region. --SPA 15:01 LOCAL TIME 12:01 GMT 0009 www.spa.gov.sa/w1246998
