Saudi Press: KSA Affirms Terrorist Acts Constitute International Humanitarian Law

Riyadh, October 10, 2019, SPA -- Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Okaz newspaper said in its editorial entitled (Fundamental Freedoms of the People) that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's assertion yesterday before the meeting of the General Assembly of the United Nations Sixth Committee on measures to eliminate international terrorism has come to put the international community again in front of its responsibilities in addressing this phenomenon, whatever its source. The editorial added that the KSA has affirmed that terrorist acts constitute a flagrant violation of international law, including international humanitarian law and human rights law. In another context, Al-Riyadh newspaper said in its editorial that the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud continues to modernizing many laws and regulations that aim to achieve a qualitative leap for the economic and development system along with enhancing the developmental role of the private sector in the Saudi economy, in addition to improving the business and investment environment. The paper noted that the economic policies have witnessed many developments and changes to strengthen the economic structure and move towards a diversified and sustainable economy, citing the Cabinet's approval this week of the franchise system that aims to attract international investments to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. On Syrian affairs, Al-Yaum newspaper said in its editorial that the Turkish military intervention in Syria has announced a clear threat to the security of the region and will not serve those chance but will complicate the Syrian crisis. The paper said that the Turkish military intervention will allow ISIS terrorist organization to restore some of its forces, emphasizing the importance of the international community role to put an end to these Turkish interventions in the Syrian affairs, and to allow the peaceful processes to practice their role in order to resolve the outstanding crisis instead of complicating it. --SPA 09:54 LOCAL TIME 06:54 GMT 0002 www.spa.gov.sa/w1187731
