Pakistani Scholars' Council Concerned over US Congress Justice Law against Sponsors of Terrorism Act

Islamabad, Dhu-AlHijjah 14, 1437, Sep 15, 2016, SPA -- Pakistan's Scholars Council expressed deep concern over the US Congress legislation Justice against Sponsors of Terrorism, saying that this law opposes the foundations of relations between existing states based on the principles of sovereign equality, mutual respect and is a clear violation of the Charter of the United Nations and the principles of international law, stressing that issuance of such a law threatens international stability and affects the relations between nation states. The Board of the council advised the US authorities not to adopt such a law, which will open the door of conflict and strife between adverse countries and affect the international efforts to fight terrorism, noting the need to international concert to fight the phenomenon of terrorism, extremism and actively contribute to the international resolve such legislative would put in risk, pointing out that Saudi Arabia represents a reference point, a hub for the Islamic world and an incubator of sanctities and one of the most important countries in the global peace keeping.
