Riyadh, Dhu-AlHijjah 12, 1437, Sep 14, 2016, SPA -- The Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia today expressed profound concern over the consequences of the recently-issued U.S. congress decision passing the Justice Against Terror Sponsors Act. In a statement in his own name and on behalf of Majlis Ashura members, the Speaker of the council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Shiekh said that this legislation sets a dangerous precedent in the field of international relations as it creates a flagrant violation of immunity of countries against judicial lawsuits, a firm principle of the international law which asserts that no country is to be subject to legislations and laws of other country as was several times confirmed by the International Tribunal of Justice. He expressed hope that the U.S. administration would not adopt this legislation as it would set a serious precedent in international relations and would open the door wide for other countries to follow suit, a step that would definitely lead to disturbing the current firm international principle of equal sovereignty among nations and would have negative reflections on international relations as regards triggering chaos and instability and might contribute to triggering extremism, now intellectually besieged, as the new legislation offers a new pretext to lure youths to their extremist thoughts. --SPA 15:41 LOCAL TIME 12:41 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
