Oklahoma City, Dhu-AlHijjah 18, 1437, September 20, 2016, SPA -- The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said a light 4.3-magnitude earthquake hit the central U.S. state of Oklahoma late Monday and was widely felt throughout parts of neighboring Kansas. No reports of injuries or damage were reported. The earthquake was centered near the town of Wakita, on the Kansas border, about 160 kilometers north of Oklahoma City, the USGS said. Scientists have linked Oklahoma’s sharp increase in earthquakes to the underground injection of wastewater by oil and natural-gas companies. State regulators have asked companies to reduce the volume of wastewater or shut down the wells completely. Earlier this month, a 5.8-magnitude earthquake hit Oklahoma, making it the strongest on record in the state. --SPA 18:57 LOCAL TIME 15:57 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
