Edmond, Oklahoma, Rabi’I 18, 1437, December 29, 2015, SPA -- A strong earthquake rattled central Oklahoma early Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said. There were no immediate reports of major damage, but the quake was blamed for power outages affecting thousands of people. According to USGS, the tremor had a preliminary magnitude of 4.3 and the epicenter was 8 kilometers east-northeast of Edmond. A smaller earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.4 hit the same area roughly 10 minutes later.
