Munich, Dhu-AlHijjah 23, 1436, October 07, 2015, SPA -- A 250-kilogram World War II US bomb found Tuesday at a construction site near one of Munich's largest museums was defused without complications, police said, according to dpa. The bomb was transported in a special vehicle under police escort from the Deutsches Museum near the city centre to a blast area where its casing was sawed open and its explosives removed, police said. Officials said earlier the bomb would be exploded safely by experts from a bomb disposal unit, but it wasn't clear whether an explosion took place. Bomb disposal experts had examined the unexploded device and established that it could not be defused where it was found. The device was discovered during construction work near the 90-year-old museum's main entrance, forcing an evacuation of the museum. About 600 visitors and 300 employess of the museum were forced to leave. The museum, one of the world's largest science and technology museums, remained closed for the day. It was scheduled to reopen on Wednesday. --SPA 03:24 LOCAL TIME 00:24 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
