The Hague, 27 Jumada I 1436, March 18, 2015, SPA -- The ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Kingdom of Holland Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Abu-Humaid, who is also his country's permanent representative to the Organization for Preventing Chemical Weapons, reiterated Saudi Arabia's underscoring the importance of implementing the Chemical Weapons Agreement, noting that the Kingdom was among the frontline countries who joined the agreement which calls for non-proliferation and possession of chemical weapons and other agreements combating serious weapons possession, spreading and use. In a statement before the 78th session of the Executive Council of the organization yesterday, he recalled that Saudi Arabia has organized a number of workshops and training courses in collaboration with relevant international organizations, including a UN-assigned committee to supervise the implementation of the UN resolution No. 1540 calling for barring chemical, biological and nuclear weapons and their components and preventing terror groups to have access to or use them. He said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has seen the world organization's report on the progress achieved in destroying Syrian chemical weapons and sincerely appreciates this effort but remains skeptical on a number of issues, mainly the inaccuracy of Syrian declarations about chemical weapons. In this regard, the Kingdom urged the international technical authorities in charge of this matter to continue its effort to further verify the figures issued by the Syrian side. In this regard, he expressed his country's concern over Tuesday revelations that the Syrian regime has used once again poisonous gas on the village of Sermin in the province of Adlib in the north west of the country. --More 00:10 LOCAL TIME 21:10 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
