Riyadh, Ramadan 21, 1436, Jul 8, 2015, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia confirmed the importance of carrying out Convention to Ban Chemical Weapons, asserting that it was among the first countries to accede to international treaties related to the ban of mass destruction weapons and the Convention to Ban Chemical Weapons, in particular, Saudi Ambassador to Holland Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Abu Haimid, who is also the Kingdom's Permanent Representative to the organization, announced yesterday, as he was addressing the 79th session of the executive council of the organization. In his speech, the ambassador expressed the Kingdom's concern over international reports indicating continuity of using chemical weapons by the Syrian regime, which should be held accountable, calling for a firm stance against those who committed crimes by using these chemical weapons, bringing them to international trial and promptly issuing the final report of the fact-finding mission on the use of chemical weapons in Syria. He also expressed concern over the ongoing ambiguity attached to the Syrian Chemical Program and the fate of some Syrian chemical weapons, especially before the Syrian regime acceding to the Convention to Ban Chemical Weapons and the full responsibility of the Syrian regime to practically prove the denial of this ambiguity, in order to be assured that there are no remainder of any chemical weapons in its inventories. -- SPA 01:47 LOCAL TIME 22:47 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
