Municipal elections allow Saudi women opportunity to participate in homeland's development /report 2 Riyadh

The first term of municipal elections recorded, 179 councils and 1212 members, and the second one 285 councils and 2112 members, while the current term recorded 284 councils and 3159 members, two-thirds of them elected, (2106 members), on condition that the members of each council not to exceed 30 members, two thirds are elected, and the other third to be appointed by a decision of the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs. Women entered the current term of the elections, as voters and candidates so that it has been made available for them with the nomination and election of who has the ability to promote municipal services in their region. Now there are 424 polling stations for women out of 1263 polling stations scattered in cities and governorates of the Kingdom, and local committees formed for the elections in all regions.
