Sana'a, 02 Rabi'II 1436 H, January 22, 2015, SPA -- Yemeni President Abd Rabu Mansour Hadi this evening submitted his resignation to the Speaker and members of the House of Representatives and the Yemeni people. However, the parliament immediately rejected the move and, instead, called for an emergency meeting tomorrow morning to discuss the political crisis, it was reported here. According to Yemeni sources, President Hadi attributed his resignation to what he called the recent disappointing developments in his country since 21 September 2014, citing his unsuccessful efforts to keep the peaceful political process working. In a statement, he said his government exerted strenuous efforts to make the national dialogue a success, but in vain, for several reasons well known to everybody. He added that he and his crew found themselves unable to achieve the goal that incurred him suffering and upset, including the failure of political partners to shoulder with him the responsibility to rescue the nation, leading Yemen to an impasse, he said. The parliament rejected President Hadi's move, calling for an emergency meeting scheduled for Friday morning to discuss the political crisis, according to a high-level Yemeni official, who added that "the Speaker of the House of Representatives Yahya Al-Raee rejected the resignation of President Hadi and decided to hold an extraordinary meeting on Friday morning. --SPA 22:34 LOCAL TIME 19:34 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
