Aqaba, Jordan, December 3, 2019, SPA -- The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) participated today in the opening of the 12th International Conference on Air Services Negotiations (ICAN) hosted by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the city of Aqaba from 2-6 of December. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) with the participation of about 75 countries and international organizations organized the conference. The participation of GACA reflects its leading position in the air transport industry and its active role in its development at a global level. Furthermore, it is a mean to strengthen international relations in the field of civil aviation between the Kingdom and the world, allowing national carriers to expand their network of operational plans, in addition to achieving the highest levels of safety and security. This is in order to keep pace with the rapid developments in the industry, and activate the strategic plan of GACA to review and update the foundations of the air transport organization. The twelfth ICAN Air Services Negotiations Conference aims to cope with the rapid development of the global air transport industry, where States meet to hold negotiations or consultations on a bilateral or multilateral basis on air services. This is in order to provide better services to the air transport community and facilitate linkages between regulators, air operators and related service providers, which create a positive advantage in accelerating negotiation mechanisms. --SPA 13:11 LOCAL TIME 10:11 GMT 0006 www.spa.gov.sa/w1221318
