Riyadh, March 05, 2019, SPA -- The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Cabinet Member Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, affirmed that the visit of the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia comes within the framework of continuous coordination and consultation between the two countries. In a joint press conference with the Russian Foreign Minister in Riyadh, Al-Jubeir said that the relations between the two countries have enjoyed remarkable growth over the past four years in the fields of economy, investment, the cooperation to face extremism and terrorism, in addition to the fields of education, agriculture, space, energy and others. He said that the two countries' leaderships are satisfied with direction of the relations of the two countries and their keenness on strengthening and intensifying these relations in all fields. Al-Jubeir appreciated the role of Russia in the region and the world, expressing his respect for the culture and civilization of Russia. The Minister of State for Foreign said that they discussed the Arab-Israeli conflict and the situations in Syria and Yemen, in addition to means of enhancing cooperation between the Kingdom and Russia in confronting extremism and terrorism and how to work for the security and stability of the Middle East region. The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Cabinet Member Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, in response to a question on Syria, affirmed that the Kingdom and Russia agreed on the importance of reaching a political solution based on Security Council Resolution No. 2254 and are keen on the unity and sovereignty of Syria and the success of the political process.
