Fourth Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety to be held in Jeddah

Jeddah, February 24, 2019 SPA-- Under the auspices of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will host for the first time in the region, the fourth Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety 2019 to be convened in Jeddah during the period of 2-3 March this year. It is one of the most important initiatives to support patient safety at local and international levels. Patient Empowerment, Policy Making and Digital Health and its impact on Patient Safety will be on the focal points of the Summit that expected to be attended by 50 health ministers from all continents. The summit will highlight strategies that will support the integration of patient safety as an essential element in achieving universal health coverage (UHC) in all countries. The aim is to raise awareness, and foster contextual applicability particularly in limited resource settings. The summit is a continuation of the first patient safety Global Action held in London in 2016 and the second Global ministerial summit held in Bonn, Germany 2017 and Tokyo, Japan Summit in 2018 with support from World Health Organization (WHO) to prioritize patients safety at all levels. Patient safety is one of the vital elements in health service systems in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Patient Safety Center (SPSC), is one of the national transformation Program's health initiatives to enhance the level of services being provided to patients in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. SPSC is an authoritative source in all issues related to patient safety and medical errors limitation.
