Arab Commission for Atomic Energy holds in Tunis its 30th meeting

Tunis, Sha'ban 21, 1439, May 7, 2018, SPA -- The Arab Commission for Atomic Energy held in Tunis today its 30th meeting. Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Arfaj, Consultant at the Riyadh-based King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, led the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation to the meeting, also attended by representatives of member states of the commission. In an opening speech, Director General of the Arab Commission for Atomic Energy Salem Al-Hamdi said the organization is embarked on concluding a host of projects and activities to further promote peaceful usage of nuclear energy, citing that most of Arab countries are planning to make use of peaceful usage of atomic energy. He lauded the positive steps taken so far by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to build a number of nuclear reactors to generate power and desalinate water. For his part, Al-Arfaj said the Kingdom has sought to take care of and diversify the energy resources in what is called energy mixture.
