Riyadh, Nov 5, 2019, SPA -- After US FDA tests found that a sample from one lot of the product contains chrysotile fibers, a type of asbestos, Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) confirmed the safety of J&J Baby Powder. SFDA has clarified that US FDA initiates a voluntary recall of Lot 22318RB of Johnson’s Baby Powder due to the presence of "Asbestos" which is prohibited in cosmetic products. In cooperation with the importing companies, the authority added that the local markets were free from this batch number. SFDA is warning consumers who have the recalled batch number from outside of Saudi Arabia to discontinue using the product. Over last years, within the program of follow-up cosmetic products after marketing, SFDA has verified the compliance of Talc powder products with specifications by examining samples of these products. Laboratory analysis has shown that the product is free of asbestos. SFDA will be working to verify the safety of ingredient products traded in local markets. In case if tests confirm a product that may cause health risk to the consumer, the authority will take the necessary actions. --SPA 17:39 LOCAL TIME 14:39 GMT 0024 www.spa.gov.sa/w1204446
