New York, Oct. 18, 2019, SPA -- Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Mouallimi called on the Syrian authorities to cooperate fully with the teams concerned with the implementation of all resolutions related to the use of chemical weapons. This came in response to what came in the statement made by Syrian representative to the United Nations towards the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the general discussion session of the work of the Disarmament and International Security Committee in UN General Assembly. Al- Mouallimi said that the Syrian regime is continuing in evading its legal obligations contained in the decision of the States Parties to the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons at its 4th extraordinary session and the UN Security Council Resolution 2218 in 2013, which calls on Syria to cooperate fully with the Organization of Chemical Weapons. Al- Mouallimi has stressed that there is discrepancy and inconsistency in the statement of Syria's preliminary declaration and its subsequent statement regarding the destruction of its stockpile of chemical weapons, despite reports confirming the use of chemical weapons in Syria by the Syrian government, in addition to the reports of previous fact-finding teams that proved Syria's use of chemical weapons. Al- Mouallimi added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has provided Lebanon with all its capabilities and assistance for the development of Lebanon, while Syria has provided Lebanon with terrorist militias such as Hezbollah, military intervention that has deprived Lebanon of progress and development for many years, as well as bombing and killing not only the Lebanese prime ministers but also journalists like Salim Al-Lawzi, who was killed by the Syrian authorities in Lebanon. --SPA 15:26 LOCAL TIME 12:26 GMT 0011 www.spa.gov.sa/w1193334
