New York, Jumada II 28, 1439, Mar 16, 2018, SPA -- A UN Security Council presidential statement has condemned "in the strongest possible terms" ballistic missile attacks in November and December on Saudi Arabia by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels. In its statement, the Security Council also called on the Houthi militants to stop targeting Saudi Arabia, welcoming pledges made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to pay $1 billion in support of UN humanitarian efforts in Yemen. The Security Council called on all member states to fully implement the arms embargo as required by the relevant Security Council resolutions, the statement said. Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the UN Ambassador Abdallah bin Yahya Al-Moallimi welcomed the Security Council presidential statement praising Arab Coalition efforts in Yemen. Al-Moallimi said that the Security Council statement on Yemen clearly condemned Houthi militia's attacks on Yemenis, reiterating the Kingdom's position that Yemeni suffering is caused by Houthis militants coup and their militia's takeover of the Capital Sana'a. --SPA 14:17 LOCAL TIME 11:17 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w643273
