The Minister of Culture and Information said that emanating from the Kingdom's belief in the importance of this subject and the role that can be played by our conference today in the fight against terrorism, the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia submitted a draft resolution on the role of media in combating terrorism which was appreciated and supported by Member states of the Organization, where the draft resolution called on member states to condemn and criminalize the media that promote and incite terrorism, and we should build on that and develop specific mechanisms for coordination of media policies between different media of the Organization's states with respect to issues of countering terrorism, developing media legislations governing the work of the satellite channels and media institutions of these countries, assessing their positions and working to stop the satellite channels and media organizations supporting terrorist groups through clear and specific regular and legal mechanisms, especially in light of the present media revolution that does not leave a room for those who fail towards their Islamic and international humanitarian duties. Minister Dr. Altoraifi added, "We must provide financial and professional support for satellite channels and media organizations that fight terrorism and seek to unite people and support the conscious media able to enlighten the society and the fight against terrorism. He went on to say, "Our brothers in Yemen are facing a crisis resulted from an attempt of Al-Houthi militias and their loyal forces to kidnap Yemen by a coup against legitimacy there and undoubtedly the international will has repeatedly confirmed that it is inevitable that Houthis and their followers bow to the will of the Yemeni people. The Minister noted that Al-Houthi militias launched a ballistic missile toward Holy Makkah, where Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed it a few kilometers from the Holy City, and this is a criminal act and an flagrant infringement on the feelings of Muslims and contempt of their holy sites, and on the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
