Jeddah, Sha'ban 21, 1435, Jun 19, 2014, SPA -- The Conference of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation continued its 41st session here today with a closed-door meeting. The two-day meetings - which began yesterday - are held in Jeddah under the title of "Exploring the Areas of Islamic Cooperation." The OIC explained the conference's agenda includes the situation in Iraq, Syria and the Palestinian territories as well as the recent developments and their impact on security and stability in the region, the situation in Libya and the conditions of Muslim minorities in Myanmar and the Philippines, adding that the file of terrorism and extremism is an important issue on the conference's table, in addition to the issues of sectarian division that threatens security and stability in the region. The OIC pointed out that the conference witnesses on its sidelines sideway sessions for the groups of contact for Jammu and Kashmir, Myanmar, Mali and Somalia and discussions on the subject of the OIC's view on challenges of peace in a changing Islamic world. The OIC said the holding of this Ministerial Conference in its current session came after the delivery of the Presidency of the Council from the Republic of Guinea to the Kingdom Saudi Arabia, stressing its role towards various issues and circumstances experienced by the member states. --SPA 13:11 LOCAL TIME 10:11 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
