Arab foreign ministers condemn military Turkish incursion in Iraqi territories

Cairo, Rabi'I 13, 1437, December 24, 2015, SPA -- The Council of the Arab League, at the level of Foreign Ministers, today condemned the Turkish military incursion into Iraqi territories and considered it as a breach of Iraqi sovereignty and a threat to Arab national security. In a statement issued at the end of its extraordinary session, the Council demanded the Turkish government to immediately withdraw its forces from the Iraqi territories, unconditionally. The Council emphasized its support for all actions taken by the Iraqi government, in accordance with the relevant rules of the international law, with the aim of pushing Turkish government to withdraw its troops from Iraqi territories, warning the Turkish government of repeating the violation of Iraqi sovereignty in the future, whatever the pretexts. The Council asked the AL Secretary General to formally inform the president of the UN Security Council and asked the Arab member at the UN Security Council to follow-up the Arab request for the withdrawal of Turkish troops from Iraqi territories and take all necessary actions until achieving this withdrawal. --SPA 22:50 LOCAL TIME 19:50 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
