Arab foreign ministers condemn abduction of Qatari citizens in southern Iraq

Cairo, 13 Rabi'I, 1437, December 24, 2015, SPA -- The Arab league Council today condemned the abduction of Qatari citizens in the southern Iraq, describing it as heinous act that contradicts the rules of Islam and constitutes a flagrant violation of the international law. In a statement at the end of its today's extraordinary meeting, held at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo at the level of foreign ministers, the Council said it was following-up with profound concern the developments of the incident, condemning the abduction of Qataris who entered Iraq legally. It expressed solidarity with the government of Qatar and support of every measure it takes to guarantee the release of its citizens, restoration of their freedom and safe return home, hoping that the contacts between the Iraqi and Qatari governments would conduce to positive outcome that ends the current custody of Qatari citizens, calling on the Iraqi government to shoulder its legal responsibility of people who entered the country on official visas. --SPA 22:35 LOCAL TIME 19:35 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
