Rome, Muharram 15, 1437, Oct 28, 2015, SPA -- Some 1,042 migrants have been rescued following seven interventions off the coast of Libya, the Italian coast guard said Wednesday. According to dpa, Irish, Slovenian, British and German navy vessels - some taking part in the European Union mission against migrant smugglers - were involved in the operations. A day earlier, a private rescue vessel run by the international aid group Doctors Without Borders saved another 226 migrants, the coast guard said in a separate statement. They were taken to the island of Lampedusa.
